Even through microtubules are important parts of sum of parts of body-mind, sentient traits, characteristics, and qualities in such as instincts, cognition, emotion, consciousness, awareness, intelligent, creativity, imagination, intuition, meanings and purposes or senses making and reason as well as transcendence or non-local complementary nature of being and becoming; and as well as abilities and capacities to transform and evolve individually and collectively locally and non-locally in the known physical world. And beyond required far greater body-mind components, composition, processes, mechanisms, and dynamic or potentialities of possibilities as interdependent and interconnected topology-structure-function-process-mechanism-order of the greater whole.

And as such, microtubules and related phenomena need to be considered as part of consciousness (and awareness) or existential being and becoming exploration within the framework of nature or existential epistemic and ontic, rather than the reason that gave rise to consciousness. Another simple way of saying is the part and parts are not the whole.

And as an extremely brief and simple illustration or analogy:

In order for a dynamic and adaptive autonomous smart device to function seamlessly; and depending on the dynamic and complexity, there are many requirements such as multi-level parrallel and distributive system, network, and connectivity architecture along with multi-level operating system, functional software and applications, and features at or that complement the system and network as well as at end or user equipment architectures as whole. Furthermore, not only the user equipment, rather the entire system must contain all necessary elements, processes, and mechanisms for such dynamic and adaptive autonomous capacities and possibilities. 

A simple way of stating from the analogy is it takes parts of sum of parts of the whole for the end or user equipment to operate or function rather than just a part or an element of the end user device. Another simple way of stating is since consciousness and awareness or existential being and becoming is irreducible or whole, they need to be explored and analyzed as such or in non-dual holistic way or concept and method. Otherwise, due to infinite complexities and potentialities, can easily be causes of oversights and misdirection. And thus, conditions on resources, efforts, and time. And more importantly, prevent harm, injustice, and suffering locally and non-locally in the known physical world. And beyond.
