There are 3 ways (or their combination) of knowing or contemplating about the real and true self:
1.0 Direct Experience
Through diverse meaningful dream, transcendent, and in particularly OBE and NDE.
2.0 Through Meaningful Scientific Method and Process
Through exploration and discovery of the subtle body-mind of the many sentient composite body-mind system.
3.0 Through Deduction, Inferring, Meaningful Correlation, and Critical Thinking or Reason
3.1 The physical body is created and sustained mostly from the known observable world resources (such as food, liquid, and other life essentials).
3.2 The physical body is made up of mostly non-human organisms. And therefore, could not possibly be the real and true self.
3.3 The physical body is returned to the known physical realm and world upon physical body death since it would not be sustainable beyond known earth realm as mentioned in 3.1
3.4 Body as this https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-01780-9 would not be able to transcend the known physical world and potential of infinite potentialities of possibilities.
From the above, it is inevitable the evidence and empirical data through the scientific method and process would eventually indicate or validate that the real and true self is the emerging subtle body-mind of the many sentient composite body-mind system (i,e. the physical body s only mean to create, nurture, shape, develop, and purify the subtle body-mind). In other words, the search for the real and true self as well as the sacred and divine is within (or through the essence and nature of being such as heart and mind nurturing, development, transformation, and purification). And therefore, it is meaningful, purposeful, and essential to discover and know the real and true self or "Thyself". And better yet, to empower, liberate, experience, and live through the real and true self sooner rather than later. All the while would help better knowing and resonating with the essence, nature, and ground of being. And nature.
