This brief and simplified discernment is to further elaborate on and complement the following essay https://aeon.co/essays/can-meditation-really-make-the-world-a-better-place:
Meditation and contemplation was developed for the following main reasons: 1.0 As parts of wholeness ways of life and best practices for: 1.1 Wellness and well being physically and mentally. 1.2 Wellness and well being spiritually. 1.3 Know oneself and know nature or exploration of epistemology and ontology. 1.4 Strengthen and complement other wholeness ways of life and practices. 2.0 Meaningful transformation of form-formless facilitating by nature such as diverse physical bio-transmutations (known and unknown) and naturalness spiritual transmutations (i.e. non-biologic). 3.0 Liberate inspirations, aspirations, and yearnings. 4.0 Meaningful sacred or divine ontology of experience. And therefore, the followings need to be taken into consideration: 1.0 Meditation through physical or outer senses of the many sentient composite body-mind system: outward meditation 2.0 Meditation through the subtle or inner senses of the many sentient composite body-mind system: inward meditation. Inner senses has multiple meanings such as inner senses of physical parts, subtle body-mind senses, or both. 3.0 Integration of 1.0-2.0. 4.0 Meditation through the subtle body-mind of the many sentient composite body-mind system. 5.0 Integration of 1.0-4.0. Even through the physical and subtle are interdependent and interconnected or intertwined and entangled, their dynamic and transformative states within the many sentient composite body-mind system as well as in the local and non-local cosmos; and as well as within nature out of this world complexity dynamic and transformative universal process of being and becoming make the perception and experience of the world extremely difficult or beyond to diagnose and analyze. 6.0 Development and application or analyses of 5.0 Through diverse states of consciousness such as waking, deep sleep, and dream. 7.0 Contemplation practices need to complement or be parts of meditation practices and efforts since there are not only multiple categories of meditation (i.e. 1.0-4.0 briefly mentioned. But there are many ways or methods pertaining to each categories). Contemplation is also need to or help build up the knowledge, skill, and wisdom as to be able to recognize and distinguish between different types of experience, senses, states of mind, and conditions or perceived and experienced phenomena. And as well as to build on these forward for well being, long lasting benefits to, and betterment for in the known physical world. And beyond. Since the complexity is beyond extreme or literally out of this world, meaningful and skillful integrated naturalness-spiritual practices and scientific concepts and methods are essential and meaningful. And there, it is natural that convergence and integrations of naturalness-spiritual and science as well as disciplines are essential and meaningful. Until what briefly suggested here are taken into consideration, the practice of meditation would continue to be unscientific, shallow and narrow, ineffective or far from possibilities or human potentials, counterproductive, and or harmful since beside what had briefly inspired and encouraged here (and in diverse ways in past discernments); there are many other variant factors and conditions such as: genetic, biology, cognition, intellect, nutrition, states of health, physical and mental states, environment, habitat, inspirations, aspirations, beliefs, and among others. And therefore, could easily or would be causes for malpractice, injustice, and suffering rather than empowerment and liberating. And which implied meaningful convergence and integration of science and naturalness-spiritual as well as related disciplines (such as philosophy and science across known macro, micro, and quantum sciences. And beyond based on the essence, nature, and ground of being. And nature) are essential. |
